Monarch Casino Black Hawk releases year-long construction time lapse video

Clip shows construction progress on 23-story hotel and spa

Things are changing fast at Monarch Casino Black Hawk, and the casino is releasing the video to prove it! Monarch Casino just released a 30-second video time lapse showing a year’s worth of the building boom that will result in a new, 23-story hotel and spa.

The time lapse covers all of 2017, and shows construction progress immediately after the planned implosion of the old parking garage in December 2016 cleared the way for the new hotel footprint. The 3rd floor slab has been poured, and the hotel is scheduled to be complete by mid-2019.

“This time lapse video shows the beginning of our hotel tower construction, the next phase in our approved master plan to bring a world-class resort to the Black Hawk market. Located just 45 minutes from downtown Denver, we look forward to introducing Coloradans to our premium product and exceptional service," said David Farahi, COO of Monarch Casino & Resort, Inc.

This expansion will nearly double the existing casino space to 70,000 sq. ft. and will feature over 500 guest rooms and suites. This project brings a world-class luxury experience to Black Hawk, complete with a full-service spa and roof-top swimming pool, new restaurants, bars, banquet facilities, convention and meeting rooms as part of its $400 million dollar, four-diamond resort development plan.

About Monarch Casino Resort Spa

Monarch Casino & Resort, Inc. acquired the Monarch Casino Black Hawk, the first casino encountered by visitors arriving from Denver on Highway 119, in April 2012. The first phase of the property’s expansion occurred in November 2020, including the opening of the first 8 floors of a brand new 23-story hotel tower, featuring 200 hotel rooms. The expansion now pushes Monarch’s casino space over 60,000 square feet, featuring over 900 slot machines, table games (temporarily closed due to COVID-19 restrictions), a 350 seat buffet-style restaurant, a 24-hour restaurant, grab and go coffee stand, 5,000 square feet of conference space and a parking structure with approximately 1,350 parking spaces. Once completed, the Monarch Casino Resort Spa expansion will include a 23-story hotel tower with 516 guest rooms and suites, an upscale spa and pool facility, five total restaurants, additional bars and associated support facilities.
